The day starts dry (when waking up at 6 am) since 6 days of full continuous rain. The Sri Lankan government declared red phase alert related to the cyclone in and mid to North-East of Sri Lanka, caused by a deep depression in the south-west of the Bay of Bengal. In Dambulla, 10 km distance the sluices of the Dambulla Oya reservoir were opened to prevent flooding, An bridge collapsed.
