Today I have been making pictures of an impressive, visual striking, shimmering view of the KNRM (translated: Royal Netherlands Rescue Brigade) in Ouddorp, Zuid Holland, The Netherlands.
High‑speed boat maneuvers — KNRM RIBs and lifeboats practice approaching the helicopter safely while maintaining speed and stability.
Helicopter hoist operations — A winch operator lowers a rescue swimmer from the helicopter into the water or directly into a moving rescue boat.
Team coordination — Both crews train communication, timing, and emergency procedures.
Precision dropping — The helicopter crew must position the rescuer accurately above the boat despite wind, waves, and rotor wash.
Rescue pickup — The rescuer may also be lifted back into the helicopter from the boat or water.
